Like cat5 cat5e is a 100 mhz standard but it has the capacity to handle bandwidth superior to that of cat5.

Vandesail s 16 foot cable adheres to this standard while supporting older cat 6 and cat 5 based devices. Cat 5 is also used to carry other signals such as telephony and video. The cable standard specifies performance of up to 250 mhz compared to 100 mhz for cat 5 and cat 5e. Cat5 cable is typically used for ethernet networks running at 100 mbps or 1 gbps.

Complementing its high performance is a flat design allowing users to install cabling. Supports applications that require additional bandwidth such as gigabit ethernet or analog video over universal cat 5e cables. Category 6 cable cat 6 is a standardized twisted pair cable for ethernet and other network physical layers that is backward compatible with the category 5 5e and category 3 cable standards. Cat5e cable will operate at up to 350 mhz instead of the 100 mhz of standard cat5 cables.

Cat 6 has to meet more stringent specifications for crosstalk and system noise than cat 5 and cat 5e.
